Newsletter October 2015

Dear members,

British Society Deventer has really started! On 23 September the season was opened with our quiz night and the last GNE Annual General Meeting. Despite the low number of members present the atmosphere was very pleasant and the sometimes difficult quiz questions gave rise to enthusiastic discussions within the four teams which could be formed.

Dear members,

Welcome to a new season of talks, films and events with British Society Deventer, the new society of friends set up after the Genootschap Nederland-Engeland ceased to exist in July of this year. Bulletin February 2015

Dear members,
Sadly our launch party for the new English club at the School van Frieswijk on 1 February 2015 could not go ahead owing to the fact that too few members were going to be present. The new name will now be revealed at our end-of-season event. However, undaunted by this, the committee is continuing with her preparations for the season 2015-2016. We can already reveal that Mrs Christine Robinson, head housekeeper at Chatsworth House is going to speak to us about working at Chatsworth for 25 years on Sunday afternoon 18 October. Recently her book The Housekeeper’s Tale was published in which she tells about her work, her talks and her travels, also to GNE Deventer. We are very much looking forward to her visit and feel honoured that she will be travelling especially to Deventer to speak to us.

Bulletin February 2015

bulletin january 2015

The committee of GNE Deventer would like to wish you the very best for the New Year.
It is going to be a very important year for our English club. As you know GNE as a national organization is going to cease to exist in July this year. The committee of GNE Deventer is very pleased to inform you that a sufficient number of members has expressed the wish we continue independently. That means that we need a new name! As said at our Christmas Event this is where you come in! The committee invites you to come up with a new appropriate name. Please let us know by email or by telephone if you have a suggestion. (addresses at the bottom of this bulletin) There will be a prize for the winning suggestion.
